Fiction
Welcome to the Icememory fiction archive, here you'll find a whole bunch of material that has been released on...
- 365 Tomorrows: 365 is the brainchild of Kathy Kachelries, who is both brilliant, and responsible (through her Promptomatic project) for inspiring the first short story I ever had published. She has since moved on to this, an archive of literally hundreds of short visions of the future. I have just one story up at the moment, but I'm looking to expand that number throughout 2008.
- Hidden Tracks: a short fiction project that I'm massively grateful to. Inspired by bits and pieces of Warren Ellis' Holy Slut Empire (including Strange Machine), and run by John Xero and myself, it's a tiny monolith of over 50 original pieces of ultra short fiction. All of my better 'tracks are shown here and the whole thing can be seen at the original LiveJournal community. If I have a particular writing style, and if it's any good at all, it's due to Hidden Tracks.
You'll also find material from my own projects...
- Steamlands: my (consistently) ongoing fiction project, a world that has been slowly growing inside my skull for years and years. I'm just waiting for the various fragments of plot to line up, to fall into that planet's burgeoning magnetic field, before I start pulling out some much longer material.
- Dreamtime: not really even a project in any sense of the word. I have quite vivid dreams fairly often. Some are just disjointed flashes one after another, but some of them have a kind of internal logic. Some of them can even be turned into stories. Those are the ones that show up here.
In addition, there are occasionally pieces that don't fit anywhere else, you can ferret them out through the full fiction archive, here, in addition to works in progress. The full fiction archive also has its own RSS feed.
